Owner Tanya Colonna would make regular visits to her father’s hometown of Termoli and always looked forward to dining at the
local pizzeria as “the pizzas were just amazing, and we had nothing comparable here in Brisbane at the time”.
We installed a pizza oven on the back deck to try to replicate those flavours, and many pizza nights followed.
Friends were happy to be sensory scientists and offer their suggestions and opinions, but the overwhelming
comments were “you need to make these pizzas available to everyone”.
And so Sugo IT. began.
Pizzas featured, however our house made pastas have become increasingly popular. All our fresh filled pasta & gnocchi
are made by hand, and we not only sell them in the restaurant, but have them and our various sugo varieties available
from our Gelateria for customers to cook/heat at home.
Since its inception 13 years ago Sugo IT. has gained a loyal following whilst also managing to expand to an 80-seat venue,
establish a Gelateria, and plans for wholesale are also underway.
We are beyond grateful to our many regulars – they make it a pleasure to come to “work”
and have kept us buoyant though the most recent of testing times.
